Miss nicaragua, sheynnis palacios, has won the miss universe competition in el salvador, the first to wear the crown from her country.

The 73rd miss universe competition was hosted by olivia culpo and mario lopez, with catriona gray and zuri hall as backstage correspondents. The shortlisted countries vying to host the 74th edition of miss universe are argentina, costa rica, dominican republic, india, morocco, south africa, spain and thailand.
